nvidia

Nvidia has finally gotten its act together and begun really pushing towards proper wayland drivers. Is this out of the goodness of their hearts or the fact that linux is the main driving operating system behind the ai boom? I'd wager for the latter. No matter, we should just be happy gaming has begun working really well on wayland for team green as well. The newer versions of nvidia drivers were supposed to have completely solved the flickering when running fullscreen games but it was a flickering mess for me no matter what I tried. All of the info I found from trawling the web told me it had to be related to the fact that I had two monitors and their refresh rates didn't align, yet that wasn't it at all. Turned out it was due to me using desktop zooming on one monitor but not the other. Turning that off in my desktop environment (kde in my case) completely removed the flickering and yielded silky smooth gameplay. Bizarrely it was even better performance than in xorg for some games (guild wars 2 in particular). Figured I'd throw it out there in case it helps someone.
